Shayla*Sweet gentle girl* the Dog needs a home

Our first step is an application which can be filled out atwww.cvrrescue.org

An update from Shayla's foster parents, "We weren’t planning on taking in another foster. This is how it always goes. We saw a video of Shayla, mountain cur, in the shelter, terrified. A precious little girl, not knowing why she got dropped off, where she was or who these people were. Typically, these kinds of dogs (scared) don’t do well in shelters. To give her a fighting chance we took her in. The first week, she mostly hid in the back bedroom and would peek out every so often to see what new noise she had just heard. Even now, she still likes her own bed (probably because she didn’t have one) but is much more social now. Shayla, most likely, will not make a first good impression as she is still weary of new things and people. But we have been working with her and allow her to meet anyone new so it’s not quite so scary anymore. She does know some commands, is potty trained and we are working on staying “down” as she gets extremely excited when you come home. And just for fun, she’s learning to dance. Shayla does live with 6 other dogs and 4 cats. While she sort-of tries to nibble on the cats, she is not aggressive and they are all still alive. (She has been with us 4 months.)

Update: Shayla has adjusted to foster care and seriously does great with the dogs and cats (and even foster puppy) in the home. She enjoys her inside cuddle time and understands her routine. She would love to have a routine in a forever home though.  This girl is just gentle and sweet as can be. IS she your next forever friend? She thinks so!

Shayla was timid in the shelter but is already doing SO much better in her foster home.  She loves other dogs, ignores cats, and appreciates a good belly rub.  She is quiet in the crate and her house training is coming along great.  She is very gentle.

This dogs adoption fee is
$175
which covers the following: spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing, dhp/p, rabies, bordatella (agre appropriate vaccines), deworming, and all the care he received while with CVRR.  All animals are on flea and tick and parasite prevention for the duration in fostercare. We are an volunteer group, who process the applications so please be patient and  understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions.   You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone and email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process .    We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the dog  picks you too.  If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee and an adoption contract to be signed.  The adoption fees help cover a portion of the care provided to the animals. All dogs and cats are microchipped and all animals adopted out are spayed/neutered and fully vetted. **All of our animals have a lifetime commitment. If for any reason, the adoption does not work out, the cats and dogs are to come back to CVRR, which is a NO kill rescue.*** The foster family and the rescue volunteers will choose the new home based on the best fit for the dog/cat.
